Loukia's refit begins

Image
We are two very happy bunnys.  This was before we realised how much work there was to do.  The first job was to empty her of the previous owners gear so we could see what we were dealing with. One of the many trips in the dinghy overloaded with stuff We needed to get the engine (BetaMarine 35) running so we could get the travel lift for haulout.  Replaced fuel filter system, start battery.  The fuel tanks were old and very rusty so we rigged up a temporary outboard fuel tank with return line (unlike a petrol outboard, diesel's use a fuel return line) and she started without much fuss. Before we could move her anywhere we knew we needed to know the anchor was functional in the event the engine failed us.  The homemade anchor windlass worked, the bollard was falling apart but should OK but we quickly decided that it was to be replaced. The cleanup of the interior was pretty hectic The seacocks were beautiful old Grocos that were all open and would close.  Dont force them as we could
